Business Intelligence Built on Certified KPIs and One Semantic Model

Most mid-market companies have Power BI or Tableau deployed and a warehouse running — and the board pack still comes out of Excel. The layer between warehouse and reports (certified KPIs, a shared semantic model, governed self-service) is where BI actually earns its keep. We build that layer for the tool you already own, so every team reports from the same definitions and the numbers hold up in the boardroom.

Where BI Capability Breaks Down

Exillar-Favicon
search
Monthly business review runs on Excel exports. Nobody will commit to a dashboard as the source of truth.
01
Finance, marketing, and product each have their own KPI definitions. Executives see three versions of “active customer.”
02
Your BI tool has 200 reports. Nobody has a register of which are the certified ones.
03
Self-service BI was turned on. Now every department has its own gold tables and none agree.
04
You spent on Power BI Premium or Tableau Server. Adoption is under 30% of licensed users.

What can I help with ?

    What Changes After We Engage

Six scenarios the buyer can picture.

The board pack comes from the BI tool, not from Excel

Monthly board prep stops with one click from the certified executive dashboard. Finance signs off on the numbers because they sourced them, not because they re-entered them.

Every department agrees on "active customer"

Finance, marketing, and customer success pull active customer from the same certified KPI. The number matches. Weekly reviews stop at the number and move on to the discussion.

Self-service works without creating new silos

Marketing self-serves the campaign performance view from certified datasets. They don't build a parallel gold table. The data team doesn't need to gatekeep every new dashboard.

Certification is visible on every report

A new hire opens a dashboard. A blue badge says "certified," along with the owner, the refresh time, and the definition of each measure. They trust the number without asking.

Adoption tracks usefulness, not training effort

Your BI platform usage dashboard shows the top-20 dashboards by weekly active users. The bottom-100 dashboards nobody opens get archived. Licensing decisions stop being guesses.

    New executive requests land faster

The CEO asks for a new view of regional performance on Wednesday. It's live by Monday because the underlying semantic model already has the measures and the patterns are documented.

    How We Engage

    1

    BI capability audit
We audit your current tool deployment, KPI inventory, adoption telemetry, semantic model state, self-service maturity, and executive reporting pain — producing a maturity score and a prioritised list of fast wins.

    2

    Build the BI operating model
Certified KPIs, semantic model, executive reporting layer, self-service framework, and governance that enables rather than blocks — built on whichever BI tool you already own, not a tool migration disguised as BI.

    3

Handover with KPI dictionary and enablement program
You walk away with a KPI dictionary, a dashboard style guide, a self-service enablement program, and training for your analysts to extend the platform without losing trust.

Make Your BI Platform the Source of Truth for the Board, Not a Cost Centre

Book a BI strategy call. We’ll audit your current deployment, show you where trust breaks and where adoption stalls, and come back with a phased plan to make your BI platform the source of truth for every team.

    Got Questions?

We already have Power BI or Tableau. Can you work with what we have?
Yes — and most engagements do. BI capability is the semantic model, KPI governance, and self-service framework layered on top of whichever tool you own. We only recommend a tool migration when the current tool is actively blocking the work.
Usually consolidate on one primary tool for executive reporting and certified content, and allow a secondary tool for specific team use cases (Sigma for finance, Looker for product analytics). Full tool proliferation rarely pays back. We run a scored decision based on your use cases.
Weekly active users against licensed users, top-20 dashboard usage, certified-dataset reference ratio, and time-to-answer for common executive questions. All four are baselined in the audit and tracked monthly after the engagement.
BI produces trusted dashboards and reports from certified data — “what’s happening and where.” Analytics answers specific new business questions (“why is it happening, what should we do about it”). Different disciplines, both needed. We offer separate engagements for each.
